Back again

Somehow this always happens. The last time I updated this page was in February shortly after I returned to Texas from Chicago. I really like updating this page and I'm going to try and keep doing. I'm hoping to also get a web-enabled phone pretty soon so perhaps updating will come a little easier that way.

Things are about the same. My girlfriend is in Germany studying Education and I'm back in Stephenville studying ingemination (look it up). I've been twittering a lot and playing The Bourne Conspiracy on Xbox 360...and it is amazing.

Anyway, more later, more often...hopefully...

I'm going to be in Georgetown again this weekend, so if anybody in the GTX wishes to hang, give me a call or get in touch with me online.

Another huge gap

I realize that this is my first update in quite a while. No matter how much I want to keep this damn thing fresh, it always gets pushed further and further down on my list of things to do more.

* * *

The most noteworthy thing that's happened since I left this thing was the stupendous trip to Chicago that my girlfriend and I took. I intended on updating this journal daily while I was up there to let some of my friends know about all of the fun we were having, but that proved to be a little more difficult than I thought.

Those who hosted us were amazing in their hospitality, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thanks also to the BW who rolled us to the ABIA.

I've taken an hour-cut at work because I really want to be academically successful this 15-hour semester.

I still want an Xbox.

I joined Twitter, so If you want to see what I'm doing or thinking in in near-real-time, head over there.

I have an insatiable desire to work on new music.

I cleaned house on my Facebook applications.

The Cnet Buzz Out Loud 'podcast of indeterminate length' is awesome.

Nifty Gifties

I just thought I would share the gifts I received (so far) this Christmas.

My grandparents got me an 80GB iPod Classic. My parents got me the Belkin Tunebase FM, and the boys got me a $50 iTunes gift card. I'm in a media frenzy right now...

Latest Albums:
Paramore - 'Riot!'
Peter Bjorn and John - 'Writer's Block'
Green Day - 'International Superhits!'
Death Cab For Cutie - 'The Forbidden Love EP'

Latest Podcasts:
IndieFeed: Alternative/Modern Rock

Latest Music Videos:
Rhianna - 'Umbrella'
Seether - 'Fake It'
Velvet Revolver - 'She Builds Quick Machines'

Latest Video/TV:
Best of the XGames
The Universe - Mysteries of the Moon
Annie's 19th Birthday

My only beef with the iPod is that, since I currently do not own a Macintosh computer, I have to use windoze to get new content (legally) and sync the device (with ease).

Yes, that's me. And yes, I am holding a shotgun. My father decided that it was time for me to have my own firearm this Christmas. Personally I think this should have happened several years back, but better late than never, I suppose.

Despite my mixed feelings about hunting, I am glad that I now have a firearm of my own. I really enjoy skeet/trap shooting, and if I ever lend my trigger finger to the mob or other organized crime syndicate, it'll be that much easier to do the job right. (Kidding...I'm...I'm kidding...)

But really, I don't know how I feel about hunting. I killed my first deer with my dad's .25-06 a few years ago, and I still don't know how it makes me feel to this day. The adrenaline and intensity felt in anticipation of pulling the trigger on a living target was almost pleasurable, but once it was over there was a certain sense of disappointment in myself. I took life. Should I really be doing that? Is this the Circle of Life at work? I was in no immediate danger, and had the animal lived, I still would have had eaten that night. It's something I think about more than I probably should.

I still have at least one present to open, and the suspense is killing me!

"Merry Christmas - everyone!"

he said in an extremely Tiny Tim-like voice.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street...

...is amazing!

The music is flowing and melodic, as well as catchy! All of the actors did a superb job, and cinematography was adept.

I highly recommend this film/musical!

A Week Removed...

Well, I've been back in Georgetown for almost a full week, and I think its been pretty good so far. I still have some friends that I haven't caught up with, but I'm confident it'll happen.

* * *

My grandmother has insisted on getting me "something really nice" that I "really want" this Christmas, so I asked her to get me an 80GB iPod Classic. In preparation for this gift, I have gone essentially mad with iTunes fever. I was up until 2 AM last night obtaining album art for everything in my library.

I've found I get really crazy about being organized with things like music collections. I refuse to have anything in my iTunes library that isn't part of some sort of official release by the artist. For instance, I can't just download an individual track, I have to get the entire official single, EP, or LP that the song was originally released on.

I'm a madman...

I still have a lot to figure out about this holiday break. I know that my parents and I are going to head down to West Columbia again right after Christmas Day.

The days leading up to my girlfriend and I's departure for Chicago will be pretty hectic. We still have to figure out when to redeem Elizabeth's great gift (flight over the San Angelo light trail) and exactly what our plan is for getting to DFW for the wedding we're going to. The only thing I know for sure is that this break is most likely going to be a great chapter in my recent life.

On a related note, if you're going to be in Georgetown on 3 January, have a vehicle that can fit luggage, and want to take my girlfriend and I to ABIA, let me know.

Thanks...i guess...

ahead of schedule

We got out of our MSL final a lot earlier than I expected, so I was able to get checked out and pack up the car. All I have left to do is move my furniture six inches from the walls (apparently some sort of fumigation takes place over the break), take my Geography final, and clear out all of my meals in the food court. I'm thinking a lot of Vitamin Water and M&Ms...

I wasn't expecting to get out of Stephenville until around 5 PM, but that looks more like 3 PM after using my free time wisely.

* * *

I'm supposed to tell my grandmother what I want for Christmas tonight. I know what I really want, but it's expensive, and for some reason I think I would feel a little guilty asking for such an item.

Dec. 12th, 2007

For the past several days I've been pretty ill. The doc I saw diagnosed my condition as an upper respiratory infection - the same thing I got a few months ago in San Angelo. Apparently the immune system's antibodies don't work when you change places...

* * *

I'm finishing up finals and am currently packing up and determining what stuff I'm going to be taking home over the holidays. The majority of stuff to be toted along will be warm-weather clothes for replacement by their cold-weather counterparts and electronics that I may need while I'm away from my semi-permanent residence here in Stephenville.
